Line: A Drawing Superpower
Instructor: Pam McDonnell

Saturday
9:00 am - 2:00 pm
May 16th | 1 Session
$125 - materials included | Beginner and up | Ages 15+

Can you draw a stick figure?  If so, you have the prerequisite for this class!  There is so much power in a single line, there is more power in multiple lines.  This class will dispel the myth that only a select few can draw.  We will bypass the traditional methods of drawing and begin with a single line.  Students will explore one simple image in contour by drawing it over and over in new contexts:  alone, in multiples, layered.  This process is a catalyst for moving on to more complicated drawing skills and gaining a deeper understanding of the ever-intimidating three-dimensional space.  We will then use the technique of cross-contour (lines going over and across, not just around the outside) to give our image depth and texture.  Each student will leave class with a newfound truth:  drawing is indeed for EVERYONE!

Drawing: An Experimental Approach
Instructor: Jim Buchman

Saturday
9:00 am - 12:00 pm
April 25th | 1 Session
$60 - materials included | Beginner and up | Ages 15+

In this abstract drawing class students will cut cardstock into shapes derived from a still life. They will use the cut edges as stencils both on top of the drawing paper and underneath it to delineate forms: the edges of the cardstock will be used instead of drawn lines to make new forms. Students will suggest the volume of the forms with graded values. The class is open to all levels of experience and materials are provided.
